Charles Owen Prowse, 75, of Pliny went home to be with his Lord Sunday, September 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 22, 1938, in Charleston and was a son of the late Charles and Rosie Bruni Prowse. He was also preceded in death by his wife Donna; son, Charles E. "Chuck" Prowse; sister, Sue Prowse and his brother, Tom Prowse.
Charles had worked in the Millwright Local Union # 1755 for 57 years, where he was proud of the work he did at The National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, W.Va. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who was a great cook. He was also a huge fan of all the West Virginia University sports.
Surviving are his daughter, Tami Ferguson and her husband Jimmy of Pliny; his grandchildren, James "Buck" Ferguson, II and his wife Rosalind, Jennifer Craig and her husband Jeremy, Lindsay Prowse and Hunter Prowse; and his great-grandson, Dalton Craig, as well as his brothers, Hank, Gary, Johnny and Dick Prowse, his sisters, Connie Calabrese, Lynn Clark and Pam Thomas.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Pastor Butch Leadmon and Pastor Mark Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pliny. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W. Charleston, W.Va. 25387.
