KINGSTON TWP. — Charles "Chuck" Steever, 73, of Kingston Township, died peacefully Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, a son of the late Miriam (Pollard) and Charles V. Steever, of Plymouth. Chuck was a graduate of Patton Masonic School in Elizabethtown and Luzerne County Community College, where he received his degree in business administration in 1971.
After serving four years in the U.S. Navy, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Hospital Petty Officer 3rd Class. Chuck was employed as an Electronic Switching Technician for Bell of Pennsylvania and later Bell Atlantic, retiring in 2001 with 37 years of service.
He was a member of Kingston Lodge 395 F & AM, as well as the Coldwell Consistory. He served as past master for two years and secretary for 15 years. He served as past President of the Sunrise Estates Home Owners Association, and was most recently a member of the board of directors for the Dallas Area Municipal Authority.
Chuck was an avid gardener and was known throughout the valley for the beautiful landscaping surrounding his home. He was a great handyman and often thought outside of the box when it came to unique holiday decorations. He also enjoyed reading, fishing and training dogs for both obedience and show. He was extremely proud of the many blue ribbons won by his many loyal best buds.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry E. and Gertrude Pollard, and Beatrice and Charles R. Steever.
Surviving are his wife, the former Bobbie Steiner, to whom he was happily married for 46 years; his newest best bud, Vinnie; brother, David Steever and his wife, Pamela, Newport Township; sister, Elaine Weaver and husband, Robert, Plymouth; nieces and nephews, David Steever, Shelly DePhillips, Danny Steever, Robert Weaver and Victoria Weaver.
The family would like to thank Chuck's wonderful caretakers, Dr.Bruce Saidman, Oncology Associates, and Mary Erwine, Erwine Home Health & Hospice.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc., Funeral Home, Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. Friends may call 9 a.m. to service. Interment will be private in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.

Dear Bobbie,
I am so sorry we missed the service for Chuck, and so sorry for what you both have been through with this. I did not know that Chuck was a gardener, a dog show enthusiast and an opera lover - Mark told me about the memorial and the music. I have always thought that Chuck was "just" a really wonderful guy and a first rate human being who got into the spirit of things and was always a pleasure to talk to. I am very grateful that we got to see you both at the Grotto that evening, and I would not have guessed how little time was left - he looked as I always remembered him. You have both given a great deal to others, and I only wish you both might have had more time. All the best to you. - Tom and Janis
