CANADENSIS — Gloria D. Whyte, 85, of Canadensis, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Allied Hospice Center in Scranton, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of William F. Whyte.
Born Aug. 10, 1935, in Hanover Township, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Warke) Berryman. Prior to her retirement, Gloria was a Township Auditor, and was an active member of the Promiseland Vol. Fire Company for many years.
Surviving are her sister, Donna and husband George Evans, of Shavertown; two sisters-in-law, Marianne Berryman, of Canadensis, and Shirley Barcheski, of Mountain Top; her grandchildren: Scotty D. Whyte and companion Danielle Ketch, of Jessup, Victoria and husband David Smith, of Spring Brook Township, Sam and wife Melissa Whyte, of Jessup, and Thomas Whyte and companion Kayla Lesh, of Canadensis; former daughter-in-law and caregiver, Elena Langille, of Newfoundland; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Scott C. Whyte, on June 13, 2020; and her brother James Berryman Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Duffy & Snowdon Funeral Home, 401 Church St., Moscow.
Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment and rite of committal will be conducted at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. For online condolences, visit the funeral home's website.
