KINGSTON — Nancy J. Rood, 78, a resident of Kingston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2015, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Her loving husband is Alan G. Rood. Together, Alan and Nancy celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 28, 2014.
Born May 28, 1936, in Nanticoke, Nancy was a daughter of the late Clement and Lillian (Hill) Levanda.
Raised in Nanticoke, Nancy was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1955. Following high school, she furthered her education at the former Wilkes-Barre Business College. During her career, she took various banking courses at Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke.
For 20 years, Nancy was employed as a data entry clerk in the operation center of First Eastern Bank, later PNC Bank, Wilkes-Barre. Later, she was employed as an administrative assistant for U.S. Foodservice Inc., Plains Township, retiring from there.
Nancy cherished her grandchildren and she held a special place in her heart for each of them. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events, and making their Halloween costumes. She also had a great love for her 4-legged grandbabies.
Nancy was known for her cooking and baking, and no one could ever duplicate her nut and poppy seed rolls. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone, and was a devoted caregiver to her older sister, Florence. Although her presence will be deeply missed, she will forever be remembered as a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
In addition to her parents, Clement and Lillian Levanda, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Sawka.
In addition to her husband, Alan, Nancy leaves behind her three children, Gail Reimard and her husband, John, Harveys Lake, Beth Ann Pacovsky and her husband, Tony, Kingston, and Alan R. Rood and his wife, Kenley, Forty Fort; her grandchildren, Christina Keogh and her husband, Jeremy, Janice Reimard, Mackenzie Rood and Colin Rood; her great-grandson, Aiden Reimard; her brother, Robert Levanda, Ashley; her sister, Florence Davis, Larksville; her nieces and nephews; and friends.

We were very sorry to hear about the passing of Nancy Rood into Gods loving arms. Nancy was always such happy, easy going person to get along with. We will always remember the many good times at we had together at the family reunions, in both Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Although she is no longer with us, the memories of her and her family will live in our hearts forever.
