Frances Gill Obituary

Frances Elizabeth Long Gill of Chestertown, MD passed away at her home on September 24, 2025. She was 98 years old.

She was born at Buckneck Wharf in Kent County, MD on October 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Frances (Foreman) Long. She graduated from Chestertown High School then went on to the University of Maryland and eventually received her master's degree in education from John Hopkins University. Mrs. Gill taught elementary school in both Kent and Queen Anne's Public Schools as well as Kent School.

She married Charles Henry Gill when he returned from serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. The two shared 72 years of marriage together.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Hepbron Gill, husband, Charles Henry Gill, and grandson, Raymond Henry Gill, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Charles Raymond Gill (Gayle), a grandson, Robert Gill (Sarah), and great-grandchildren: Raymond H. Hill, Jr., Harper Gill, and Michael Gill.
