Linda Verbeck Obituary
Linda attended the Walnut Hill School in Massachusetts for high school, followed by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in 1962. Linda wed Pieter Lighthall Verbeck that same year and they moved to New York City to begin their married life. After living in New York for two years, the couple moved to Darien, CT where they lived for nearly 40 years. Linda was a paralegal for many years at a local law firm and Pieter worked in New York City in the advertising industry.
After a wonderful life in Darien where they raised their twin children, Pieter and Linda moved to Chestertown, MD where they found joy in the outdoors and tight community. Linda and Pieter were very social people and loved taking classes at Washington College, golfing at Chestertown Country Club and listening to music and enjoying the arts at all of the local events.
Linda is survived by her sister, Happy Griffiths; daughter Mollie Spilman; son Tony Verbeck; and grandchildren; Annie Verbeck, Benjamin Verbeck, Eleanor Verbeck, Ryan Spilman and William Spilman.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, September 12th at 11 a.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newman Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD. A reception will follow the service in the same location.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in memory of Linda to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 101 North Cross Street, Chestertown, MD.
