Peggy Grenke Obituary

Peggy Ann Urie Grenke passed away February 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born April 2, 1940, in Chestertown Hospital, in Chestertown, MD. She lived with her parents, George and Lucy Urie, in Rock Hall, MD. She attended Rock Hall Elementary School and graduated from Rock Hall High School.

During her high school years, she became friendly with William (Bill) Grenke, who also attended Rock Hall High School. They dated for several years and were married in 1957.

Peg and Bill have 4 children (Darlene, Michael, Kami, and Keri). They also have 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

They lived in Rock Hall until 1971, when Bill changed jobs. His first assignment at his new job required them to move to Illinois. They lived in Chatham, IL (a small town near Springfield) for about a year and then Bill was transferred to Georgia. They lived in Decatur, GA (a suburb of Atlanta), for about a year. Then Bill was transferred to Tennessee where they lived in Bellevue (a suburb of Nashville) for about 3 years. Bill was finally transferred back to Maryland, and they lived in Gaithersburg, MD, for about 28 years. During his retirement years, they moved to Swan Point, MD (a boating and golfing community in Southern Maryland). Bill had a private consulting business for a few years and Peg was his assistant.

During all these moves, Peg was raising 4 children and keeping the home front in good order while Bill was frequently traveling on business. All the children were born in Maryland except for Keri who was born in Tennessee.

While living in Gaithersburg, Peg worked as an assistant in the business office of Schabacker Investment Management. Peg also worked part time as a bookkeeper for a local church.

Peg became a Christian and was baptized while attending First Baptist Church in Chestertown, MD, in the 1960's. One of Peg's favorite gospel songs is "I Come to the Garden Alone". Some of Peg's favorite bible verses are Isaiah 41:10, Romans 10:9-10, John 3:16, Philippians 4:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and Zechariah 4:6.

A graveside service was held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2pm at Wesley Chapel Cemetery 6065 Rock Hall Rd. Rock Hall, MD 21620.
