Robert Hatcherson Obituary
Born on July 2, 1931 in Chestertown, he was the son of the late Robert Rogers Hatcherson Sr. and Charlotte Allender Hatcherson. He graduated from Chestertown High School, Class of 1948. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955.
In 1957, he married Joan Ashley. Mr. Hatcherson started working with the United States Postal Service in 1965 as a postal clerk, retiring in 1993. He played the fiddle as part of the Sawmill Hollow Boys and also played the guitar and mandolin. Mr. Hatcherson was a member of the Frank M. Jarman American Legion Post #36, and the Chester Lodge #115 AF & AM. He enjoyed classic country and bluegrass music, yard sales and the Crumpton sale.
In addition to his wife Joan Hatcherson, he is survived by a son, Robert A. Hatcherson and wife Patricia of Ft. Worth, Texas; three daughters, Eva Hatcherson of Fredericksburg, Va., Melissa Coleman and husband Bob of Chestertown and Teresa Giunta of Downingtown, Pa.; five grandchildren, Daniel Hatcherson of Austin, Texas, Scott Hatcherson of Dallas, Texas, Stacey Hatcherson of Chandler, Ariz., Jamie Taylor and her boyfriend Rafael Roman of Lake Placid, Fla. and Olivia Coleman of Chestertown; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Roman and Rafi Roman; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Ethel Cunningham and Ann Fletcher; and a son-in-law, Pietro Giunta.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Raum Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 461, Rock Hall, MD 21661 or the Kent-Queen Anne's Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 126, Chestertown, MD 21620.
