Edward Condon Obituary

Edward Vincent Condon, age 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 19, 2025, after a valiant year long struggle with cancer. His children, Sean and Erin, were by his side.

Edward was born on March 25, 1960, to Geraldine and Edward Condon in the Bronx, NY, being the first of three children.

During high school in Goshen, New York, he played football and tennis. He graduated from Goshen High School earning a regent's scholarship. He received his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona. While in college at Arizona State University he worked two jobs. He received his master's degree from Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida while he was working for Otis Elevator. Edward was selected as one of the outstanding graduates and asked to speak to the entire graduate school faculty of Nova University. As a salesman for Otis Elevator, He helped a church qualify for and obtain an elevator for an aging congregation and was invited to the ceremony when the parish celebrated its installation. Edward has a master's Certificate in Government Contract Management from George Washington University and is a Certified Professional Procurement Officer with the National Institute of Government Purchasing. He was an instructor for the National Institute of Government Procurement.

Working for United Technologies Otis Elevator gave Edward the opportunity to live in a number of places across our country. While starting out in sales in Fort Lauderdale, he then took a position at the manufacturing facility in Bloomington, Indiana. He later accepted a position in Las Vegas, Nevada to lead the acquisition and contracting for state-of-the-art innovative systems for the Paris Eiffel Tower and Aladdin Casino. When those projects were completed, he helped out in Houston, Texas before moving his family to Lakeville, Minnesota to implement several next generation Automated People Movers systems at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. From there he moved his family to Stevensville, Maryland where he spent the rest of his life. Most notable were his positions with Fujitec America, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Anne Arundel County Government, The Architect of the Capitol and in late 2021, Edward took a position with the Secretary of State as part of the Population, Refugees and Migration Department where he worked until his passing.

Edward was a man always on the move and always ready for an adventure. His interests included snow skiing, scuba diving, stunt kite flying, training as a tri athlete being in a number of triathlons ((swim, bike, run for a total of 32 miles), mountain biking, sailing, and hiking to name a few. Edward hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and to the base camp of Mount Everest. He took his daughter, Erin, on a cruise to Bermuda and his son, Sean, on a cruise to Alaska shortly after getting his cancer diagnosis.

Edward was an Officer in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 18 years serving as a staff officer in the areas of Information Systems, Diversity, and Public Affairs.

Edward was a man of deep faith. While living in South Florida, he was a Big Brother and taught CCD at his church. He was always involved in his church in some way helping with Children's Church, preparing the coffee and snacks and Bible Studies. Edward was a leader in the Walk to Emmaus movement dedicated to a global ministry. He was involved with the Ransom Heart Ministry devoted to helping people discover the heart of God. He was a frequent speaker at Christian conferences.

As a son, Edward frequently surprised his parents with flowers and food he thought they might enjoy but never buy. These gifts included crab legs and lobster, which his mother didn't know how to prepare.

As a brother, he encouraged his brother, Robert, and included him on family vacations and a trip to the Super Bowl.

His sister, Theresa, who had been treated for cancer in her twenties, became his confidant and sounding board. She became his champion, and he was her hero.

Edward often referred to his frugal spending to being a "Jones" which is his mother's maiden name. He remembered his grandfather removing the light bulb in the refrigerator to save money and loved trying to get a bargain. He insisted on riding a Greyhound bus to school in Arizona because they had a $99 fare from New York to Arizona. After that experience, he never road the Greyhound bus again.

Edward was predeceased by his brother, Robert. He is survived by his daughter Erin S. Condon, son Sean S. Staunch Condon (Rhianna), parents Geraldine and Edward Condon, sister Theresa Chronic, nieces Brittany Condon and Nicole Watkins, and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Bay Area Community Church located at 884 Chesterfield Rd in Annapolis. Visitation will start at 12pm with the service at 1pm and a luncheon to follow.

Edward and his brother, Robert, will be interred at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, New York with their maternal Grandparents, Jim and Dolly Jones, at a later date.
