Roy Parsons

1937 - 2025

Roy Lawrence Parsons was born October 12, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA to Arthur and Allene (Dern) Parsons. Roy passed away on July 3, 2025 at his home in Tucson, AZ.
Roy spent his early years in California before moving to Tucson in his teens. He graduated from Tucson High in 1956. He continued his education at the University of Arizona graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Roy previously lived in Whetstone, AZ and worked at Fort Huachuca. He spent his career traveling around the world working at various military bases testing satellite equipment. He retired in 1998.
Roy's free time was spent rockhounding around the southwest and he had amassed quite a collection of fluorescent and non fluorescent rocks and minerals. He was a member of the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society and enjoyed the local gem shows every year.
He also continued with his interest in working with electronics, attending auctions and acquiring many pieces of electronic equipment.
Roy was active in a couple of men's groups. He was a 21 year member of the Men's Social Network and became a Lifetime member in 2021. He was an active "Kitchen Krew" volunteer at their monthly potlucks. Roy also sought to improve himself through his participation in the Mankind Project's many activities and workshops. He also enjoyed his weekly Quiddler game nights with friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Allene Parsons; stepmothers, Jocelyn Parsons and Joan Parsons; his brother, Doug Parsons; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his beloved dog, Nimbus. He is survived by and will be missed by his sister-in-law, Misty Parsons; nephews, Eric Parsons and Kevin Parsons; great-niece, Ella Parsons; and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of Roy's life will be held on October 19 at 2 p.m. at the Tiki House located at Far Horizons, 5000 E Grant Rd, Tucson.
