"O.R." Freesen III
Bluffs - Oscar Robert "O.R." Freesen III of Bluffs, IL passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo..
He was born October 14, 1950, in Jacksonville, the son of Oscar Robert "Bob" Jr. and Alice Albright Freesen. He married Dawn Britten on July 9, 2011, and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons and one daughter, Boomer Freesen, Willard (Marci) Freesen, all of Pittsfield, and Mariah Freesen (Drew Spaulding) of Broomfield, Colo.; one stepson, Michael Britten of Ft. Myers, Fla; four grandchildren, Sunset Freesen, Sophia Freesen, Benjamin Freesen, Bodhi Spaulding; one brother, Kerry (Cathy) Freesen of Springfield; his stepmother, Deborah "Deb" Meyer Freesen of Jacksonville; and his stepsister, Charla (Ted) Stieren of Chatham. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sunset Jennifer Freesen; and two brothers, Guy Freesen (surviving wife Susan of Harrisonburg, Va.) and Matthew Freesen (surviving wife Cathy of Toledo, OH).
O.R. was a 1968 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He was one of the founding members of Two Rivers Jeep Club, was a member of the Grey Widows Motorcycle Club, and enjoyed off-roading and motorcross racing. He and all three of his brothers earned the rank of Eagle Scout as members of Jacksonville Boy Scout Troop #107. He loved Fighting Illini Football and Basketball. O.R. especially enjoyed traveling, riding and customizing his Indian and Harley motorcycles, and was a passionate fan of his family's athletic and other activities.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
