Aileena Brogdon Obituary

Aileena Rose (Rutledge) Brogdon
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Aileena Rose Brogdon (Rutledge), 36, on June 8th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Gardner's Syndrome. "Rosie" passed peacefully at UI Health Hospital in Chicago, IL, after weeks of being lovingly surrounded by close family and friends. She is survived by her mother, Terri Rutledge-Smedly; her brothers, Stephen (Betsy) Harnois and Matthew (Jenna) Rutledge; her three sons, Braedyn, Liam, and Henry; her aunt, Jackie Harnois; and several nieces and nephews, including Harley, Delaney, Stephen Jr., Eva, and Amelia. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Arleen Harnois, and stepfather, Rick Smedly.
Aileena enjoyed spending time with her boys and cooking for her family. Aileena lived life to the fullest with such strength and hope despite her chronic illness. She is a true inspiration to all who knew her. Aileena was blessed with the gift of organ donation; the small bowel and kidney she received allowed her to spend years with her boys.
A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we have established a memorial fund in Aileena's memory to support her three boys, Braedyn, Liam, and Henry Wilson. Memorials may be made to the Aileena Brogdon Memorial Fund at any Petefish, Skiles & Co. Bank location or mailed to 102 W. Beardstown St., Virginia, IL 62691.

I knew her as Rosie since she was a little girl. I enjoyed knowing her. When it was time for the boys to start school, she had a million questions. What a good Mommy she was. I will miss her. She had strength of character.

One of my favorite memories ever, and you were with me. You always understood what it was like to be perpetually ill and never made me feel bad for being sick all the time. It´s hard to think that my Rosie, my rock, is gone now. I´ll miss our daily messages with recipes or funny videos or inspiring quotes. You will always continue to be one of my biggest inspirations and reasons to keep fighting. Your fight is over and your rest is well deserved. Rest easy, love. We´ll be seeing you soon. Sending prayers and good thoughts to the boys and your family during this time.

Aileena, I cherished our friendship so deeply. You were the only friend I had who "got it" when it came to the struggles of chronic illness. We leaned on each other and celebrated each birthday that we "made it" another year. Our milestones, our struggles, our memories, our lives. Life isn´t fair but God needed you for something more. I will still celebrate your birthday in your honor. I will never forget you, dearest friend of mine. I´m praying for your boys and your family. Love you very much and thank you for being with me through my journey and allowing me to be a part of yours! Always and forever will be in my heart... until we meet again.
