Charles Heitbrink Obituary
Jacksonville - Charles "Charlie" Heitbrink who touched the lives of many as a community leader, mentor, and friend, has died at the age of 81.
Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Jane, his sons Robert Heitbrink, and David (Jodi) Heitbrink, granddaughter Megan Heitbrink, grandchildren Emily, Cal, and Joe, brother Stanley Heitbrink, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charlie was a 1959 graduate of Jacksonville High School, and attended MacMurray College. He met Jane while he was employed at The Ranch House Restaurant in South Jacksonville. In 1970, he entered the real estate business, and in 1975, founded Heitbrink Realtors. In 1996, he acquired a Re/Max franchise for Jacksonville, Re/Max Results Plus, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2014. Charlie dearly loved his family and treasured the moments spent with them.
Always ready to promote Jacksonville, Charlie had actively served his community in many capacities: on the board of the Jacksonville Planning Commission, on the Parks and Lakes Board, and as Fire and Police Commissioner. Charlie was also a past president of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Contact Club. Professionally, Charlie served as a past president of both the Jacksonville Association of Realtors, and the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials. In addition, he was a member of the State of Illinois' Real Estate Administration and Disciplinary Board.
Charlie's life will be celebrated at 11a.m. on Friday March 24, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, where he was a member. The family will meet friends from 10-11a.m. prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to Trustbridge Hospice, Sunflower Team, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL, 33407. Jane & I were close friends from early childhood through high school until I moved to Phoenix in 1960. I remember going to her house after elementary school to watch Howdy Doody on tv. We were friends when she met & started dating Charlie (he was an older guy to us girls ). Sadly, we lost close touch over the years because of the distance, but when I brought my aging mother back home for her 50th college reunion at MacMurray, Jane took us to lunch at the Country Club. So sorry to read of Charlie´s passing. I know you two were devoted to each other. I still think of you guys often. Love to you, Janie!

This man was a Jacksonville great. He was a very kind man, and always had a smile on his face. He lived a very good life, even though it threw him many ups and downs. He will be deeply missed by many. My condolences to the entire family and former business associates suffering from this loss.

My prayers are with Jane and her family. It seems I have always known Charlie, from Ranch House as a little girl, to both of us in real estate, then as I moved around Illinois I always saw Charlie at REALTOR meetings, then when I visited my parents in West Palm Beach I had the pleasure to see Charlie and Jane. It's hard to believe Charlie is gone. He will be missed.
