Clyde Wesley "Wes" Driver
Jacksonville - Clyde Wesley "Wes" Driver, 73, of rural Jacksonville, died Thursday, June 8, 2023, at his residence. He was born December 19, 1949, in Jacksonville, the son of Maurice D. and Helen F. Squires Driver. He married Joann Watts on September 29, 1972, in Jacksonville, and they were later divorced.
Wes is survived by one son, Scott (Amanda) Driver of Jacksonville; one stepdaughter, Lisa Hembrough of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Ethan, Luke, Colten, and Adalyn Driver and Joe Hembrough; two great-grandchildren Chloe and Nova Hembrough; and one sister, Connie (Gary) Braner of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Tippin.
Wes was a sound technician and service manager for BESCO in Jacksonville for many years and later retired from Capital Sound. He served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He loved his St. Louis Cardinals and drinking Busch Beer with his buddies at the VFW.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will also host a celebration of life on Saturday, June 24th from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the VFW in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the VFW Post 1379.
