Daniel "Danny" Way
Jacksonville - Daniel "Danny" Way, 75, of Jacksonville, Ill. passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at his home.
He was born Mar.11, 1949, in Jacksonville, the son of Kenneth and LaVerne Armstrong Way. He married Darlene Werries on Aug. 7, 1970, in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Doug (Sherry) Way of Sherman and David (Sara) Way of Carlinville; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three sisters and one brother, Patty (Bill) McGee of Bella Vista, Ark., Mike (LaVonne) Way of Columbia, Mo., Carol (Pat) Searle of Wichita, Kan., and Linda Beckett of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Way was a 1968 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He owned and operated Daniel Way Construction for nearly 45 years. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and the St. Louis Cardinals. Danny and Darlene enjoyed traveling to six different states attending many concerts performed by Ernie Haase & Signature Sound Southern Gospel Quartet, going to Disney World, and collecting and selling antiques.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will meet friends 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements. We got to know Dan when we needed work done on our older house. He did fine work for us and would make suggestions that improved our first ideas on what could be done. He was always pleasant, interested in how he could help, and charged a fair price. We were certainly blessed to know him!
