Donald Nicholson Obituary
Alsey - Donald W. "Tucker" Nicholson, 93 of Alsey passed away Thursday morning September 12, 2024 in Jacksonville. He was born October 9, 1930 in Alsey the son of Claude and Letha Wilkerson Nicholson.
He married Doris Kesterson June 16, 1951 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She preceded him in death April 20, 2016. Also preceding him where his brothers Eugene and Keith Nicholson, sister Norma Vinyard and daughter in law Barbara Nicholson.
Tucker was a brick mason, entering the bricklayer's union in 1949. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion, Alsey Baptist Church and served many years on the Alsey town board. He coached Little League baseball for many years, and was a St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, picking seasonal berries, helping with church dinners and making wine.
Surviving are his sons Rod Nicholson of Jacksonville, Mike Nicholson of Jacksonville, Danny Nicholson of Glasgow, and Steve (Kim) Nicholson of Alsey. 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and his brother Glenn Nicholson of Alton and sister Audrey Arnold of Marion.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday September 20, 2024 at the Alsey Baptist Church. Burial will be in Glasgow Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 until 8 pm at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Memorials can be made to the Alsey Baptist Church or Glasgow Cemetery. So very sorry to hear that Tucker had passed away! What a great guy he was! Loved to take my mom to visit with the Kesterson´s and Nicholson´s at the reunions and family gatherings. Prayers for all the family.
