Ernest "Wayne" DeWayne White
Jacksonville - Ernest DeWayne "Wayne" White, 73, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1949, in Jacksonville, the son of Ernest R. and Helen Jennings White. He married Carolyn M. Lomelino on February 21, 1966, in Jacksonville, and she survives.
Wayne is also survived by his children, Randy (Lori) White of Clearwater, FL, Candy (Chad) West of Jacksonville, Donna (Kyle) May of Decatur, Jennifer Pool, and Michelle (Brandon) Aring, both of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Erika White, Rachel White, Danielle (Michael) Donovan, Alexandria (Billy) Wilson, Garett May, Lucas May, Marissa May, Tyler Pool, Jacob Pool, Emalee Pool, and LouElla Aring; three great grandchildren, Chloe and Emmet Donovan, and Gracelynn Wilson; numerous brothers and sisters, including William "Bill" (Gertie) White, Sandra Kay "Sandy" Armstrong, Albert Charlesworth, Sue Swan, Lisa Dawn (Gary) Graham, and William White; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Helen and Clifford Charlesworth; his father; son-in-law, Bill Pool; and sister, Margaret Kirbach.
Mr. White worked for Andrews Lumber Company from 1966-1985. In 1985, he purchased the Truss Manufacturing Division of Andrews, renaming it Alco-White. He retired in 2015 as owner and operator. Wayne was an annual donor for the Habitat for Humanity, providing trusses for many area homes. He was also a member of the Wood Truss Council of America. He was recently nominated and will be inducted into the Senior Hall of Fame Labor Force Division in the state of Illinois.
Wayne had been a Cubmaster and little league coach in the Murrayville-Woodson area. He had also sponsored and participated in many area sports activities, including bowling, softball, basketball, and volleyball. He especially enjoyed attending his children's, grandchildren's, and great grandchildren's many activities.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 am Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will greet friends from 4-6 pm Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or donor's choice.
