Haley Gauges Obituary
He was born Jan. 19, 1920, near Alsey, the son of the late Augustus and Marie Elizabeth Ashmore Gauges. He married Mildred Elizabeth Northrop on Oct. 19, 1939, in Bowling Green, Mo., and she preceded him in death in 2005.
Mr. Gauges was a farmer in the area all his life. He enjoyed working with livestock, especially horses, and was a member of the South Scott County Saddle Club. He also enjoyed coon hunting and loved being with his family.
Surviving is his daughter, Karen (Kenny) Collison of Bluffs; three grandchildren, Ken (Stephanie) Collison Jr. of Springfield, Jeff Gauges of Severna Park, Md., and Karla (Robert) Wheatley of Jacksonville; and a great-granddaughter, Josie Collison. Also preceding him was his son, Kenneth Gauges (surviving wife, Elaine Gauges of Winchester); three sisters, Leona McKown, Clara Oakley and Leta Marie Woodall; and a brother, Delmar Gauges.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be at Winchester City Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Winchester EMS. Condolences may be left for the family at www.airsman-hires.com.
