Harry Garner Obituary

Harry Eugene Garner, of Wise, Virginia died Sunday, September 14, 2025 at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born February 6, 1961 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Robert D. and Ailene (Reed) Garner of Greenfield.
Surviving is his daughter, Carley Morgan (Matthew), of Castlewood, Virginia; and his siblings, Jim (Pat) Garner, Robyn (Jim) McClelland and Gayla Garner. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harry knew from an early age that he wanted to be a cowboy and that is what he did. He saw a great portion of the country while training Appaloosa show horses. He trained several National and World champions including: 1986 Mason Dixon Appaloosa First Place 2&3 Year Old Snaffle Bit Futurity, 1991 National Grand Champion Gelding, 2001 National Grand Champion Mare, 2010 IAA Select Stallion Futurity Champion, 2023 World Champion Broodmare, 2024 Limited World Champion Yearling Mare and 2025 National Champion 3 Year Old Stallion.
A Celebration of Life Shindig will be held on October 11, 2025 in Telford, Tennessee. A local celebration of life is being planned. Harry will be missed by his far-flung friends and his family.
