My condolences to entire family. Jack was and has been one of my favorite acquaintances ever. I am a retired grocery store manager also. I had heard about Jack years ago while he was managing the National Food Store in Springfield and how great a job he was doing and how nice a guy he was. Not many grocery managers can claim having a good store and be a nice guy. I finally met Jack at the Jacksonville County Market. He was retired and was sitting on the pedestrian bench at front of store. He was waiting on his sister he had brought in to get her shopping. Right then and there I knew he was indeed a nice man. We hit it off liking each other from the moment we first shook hands getting each other. We talked family, economics, politics and of course grocery business. So sorry to hear of Mary Lou's passing recently. I retired 8 years ago and ran into Jack twice since then. When I retired I didn't miss the job at all. I missed the people. All the employees and customers were my extended family and Jack was right there among the top of the list. I'm sure he felt the same way. He indeed was a good man and I know he loved all of you, his family, very much. Rest in peace Jack. We'll meet up again before too long.
