Jacolyn Hermes Obituary
New Berlin - Jacolyn "Jackie" R. Hermes, 92, of New Berlin, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Springfield Suites Rehab and Nursing.
She was born on March 27, 1933, in Alabama, the daughter of William and Ruth (Dieckman) Phillips. Jackie married Richard "Dick" Hermes on January 14, 1956, in Jacksonville, IL. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2003.
Jackie earned an associate's degree and worked as a licensed practical nurse, after raising her family. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Jackie was an accomplished seamstress who loved making quilts and dabbled in knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard "Rick" Hermes; and brother, Bill Phillips.
Jacolyn is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Paul) Osborne of Litchfield, IL; sons, Patrick Hermes of New Berlin and John (Allinson) Hermes of Alexander, IL; grandchildren, Steven, Caleb, Luke, Timothy, Samuel, Matthew, Ashlyn, Faith, and Tyler; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jon R. Phillips of Jacksonville, IL, Patsy (Donald) Covey of Evansville, IL, Margaret (Donald) Mathews of Roodhouse, IL, Dixie (Keith) Pennell and Thomas C. (Dianna) Phillips, both of Murrayville, IL.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Adam Zawadzki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: New Berlin EMS.
