Jennifer Bible Obituary

Jennifer L. Bible
Jacksonville - Jennifer Lynn Bible, 51, passed away on July 25th, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, MO, surrounded by loved ones after a 5-year battle with metastatic colon cancer. Since being diagnosed in 2018, Jennifer shared her journey through her fight in an effort to enlighten others about the reality of her sickness. She was a beacon of shining positivity and an example of the power of belief.
Jennifer, better known as Jenn, was born July 14th, 1972, in Flora, IL to Teresa and Mark Bible. Due to the sudden passing of her parents at young ages, Jenn was raised by Phyllis and Jeff Bible, alongside Rowena and Harvey Tibbs. Phyllis and Rowena survive.
Jenn is also survived by her daughter, Emma (Alec) DeYong of Granite City; brother, Steve (Donna) Bible of Louisville; sister, DruAnn O' Dell of Clay City; and many good friends, including Jennifer Nebel and family of Jacksonville, Rhonda Johnson of Roodhouse, Tammy Joseph of Jacksonville, Karen Fezler of Jacksonville, and Jill Johnson of Louisville; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jenn was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Teresa Bible, Jeff Bible and Harvey Tibbs; and sister, Kris Lewis (surviving husband, Marty).
In 1999, Jennifer gave birth to her greatest accomplishment, her daughter Emma Terese Bible. Anyone that knew the pair could see the unbreakable bond of Jenn and Emma. They were blessed to spend 24 years of life together down on Earth. Jennifer was the most incredible single mom to her daughter and her relationship with Emma served as a beautiful example of love for those that knew them. Jennifer, Emma, and their puppies Monroe, Beatrice, and Clementine, were proof that a family certainly didn't need to be large (or human) to radiate the utmost amount of love.
Jenn was a kindergarten and first grade teacher in the Jacksonville 117 School District for 27 years. Jenn has made a huge impact on many students throughout her career. Her ability to make students feel cared for, loved, encouraged, and motivated about school made her a role model and mentor to her students; but also many of her colleagues. Her eagerness to continue teaching throughout her battle with cancer, as well as a craniotomy to remove a brain tumor during the height of the pandemic, is a perfect example of her dedication to the work she loved and the children she served. In 2022, as a crowning achievement in her career, Jenn was awarded the Bill Russell award. This honor is given each year to a JSD 117 teacher who shows dedication and innovation to the advancement and continued growth of JSD 117 students. Her legacy in the Jacksonville education community cannot be understated and will not be forgotten. Jenn would want all her students to know that she loves them, is so proud of what they have gone on to accomplish, and excited to see all that they will come to achieve in their lives.
Jenn's great joys in life consisted of spending time with her family and friends, curling up on the couch with her pups, going on drives with Emma, grabbing a Flora Dairy Queen Coke or ice cream, listening to her true crime podcasts, floating in a pool, doodling, drawing, crafting, painting, or going out for some retail therapy at Target or Home Goods.
Jenn has left an everlasting mark in this world and would want us all to "keep shining", "believe", and continue rocking anything with sparkles, unicorns, or rainbows.
A memorial service for Jenn will be held at 4 pm Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 2-4 pm prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left online at buchanancody.com.

I worked at Central Office where Jennifer taught . I cooked the lunches for the children there and I remember her always taking time out to come in to say hello or Thank me for what I do .
To watch her with the children was amazing she made each and every one of her student feel special and got everything they needed .what a role model for any aspiring new teacher .
And that smile! That could light up the room, that was infectious and so sincere. She was giving, loving and immense love that she had for her daughter, who is just as beautiful as she was.
Thank you for everything that you did for all the children in our community, we were blessed to have you. Rest in peace and know you´ll be missed dearly.

We are each born with special gifts from our creator. Jennifer was born to be a mother, a teacher and a friend. She used these gifts everyday to the fullest and her rewards were immeasurable love. This love makes it possible to close your eyes and feel her presence. God bless Jennifer.

Emma, you were and always will be your mama´s whole world. The pride she had in you was so special to witness- her forever answered prayer Over the years you shared your mom so graciously with hundreds of other children- all of Jen´s students were loved and cherished in her room. The kindness she showed others will live on in each and every life she impacted. You may never know the full extent of how many lives your mama changed for the better, but I want you to remember that all the love she had for her students, and friends, and family, and teaching was no comparison to the amount of love she had for you. I pray that you find peace in how many people loved your mom and know that you are by far her favorite legacy. I know she is looking down now and is beaming that beautiful smile of hers while watching your compassion, wisdom, and grace. You are all of the best parts of your mama and more and Jen lives on in you more than anything

I had the absolute pleasure of having Jennifer in my life as a very dear friend!!! She was such a strong witness of God and I was BLESSED to watch her FAITH grow through the years of her life!!! She was a true warrior and fought her battle with all her might for her daughter, Emma and all of us that loved her dearly!!!! I have never seen anyone fight so hard to get everything prepared and ready for her departure from this world and into the Loving arms of her Heavenly Father!!!
Oh what a BLESSING SHE WAS TO ALL WHO KNEW HER!!!
I was blessed to work beside her for a few years before I lost my sight in my left eye and had to retire. But in those years of watching her with those children, I observed such love and compassion for her teaching these little ones!!! She loved them with all her heart!!! She brought joy and laughter into her classroom!!!
In her last few weeks at Farnes Hospital I walked into a hospital room and immediately felt God's Spirit in a room that some would have thought would be filled with such despair!!! But what I felt walking into that room, with our precious Jennifer in her bed, not able to verbalize her feelings and could barely lift her eyes to see me. Her sweet daughter by her side, five dearest friends there and all had been there not leaving her side!!! Staying right there day and night, sharing memories and just showing their love for her in every way they could!!! I was blown away by the PEACE OF GOD I felt through all of them!! I sang her a song and said a prayer and she gave me me an " I love you" just by softly moving her lips in motion. She melted my heart!!! I told her she had touched more lives and was such a testimony to more people she could imagine!!!
The next time I drove up to see her I met Emma's husband!!! Oh how I feel in love with him, seeing and feeling the love he had not only for Emma, but for Jennifer .
I was one of those lives she touched!!! She will FOREVER BE IN MY THOUGHTS AND MEMORIES!!! SHE WILL ALWAYS BE A HERO IN MY EYES AND A GREAT TESTIMONY OF GOD!!! I LOVE YOU MY DEAR FRIEND AND CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN IN A NEW BODY WITHOUT PAIN!!!

I can remember being in a McDonald's drive-thru and the car behind me honking like crazy and I thought that I was in their way only to turn around and find out that it was Jennifer Nebel and Jennifer Bible waving at me just wanting to say hi. When my son Mikey was in preschool with Emma he said she was his girlfriend it was so cute and I am happy to see that she has grown to be such a wonderful woman and that is because Jennifer was a wonderful woman and a legacy to her daughter and the students and all those that she came in contact with.
