BEARDSTOWN - Joyce Elaine Feigl, 86 of Beardstown, died Saturday, February 22, 2025 at her home. She was born July 27, 1938 in East St. Louis, the daughter of Harvey and Pauline Groce Moodey. She married Alois A. "Louie" Feigl on July 4, 1958 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2019. She is survived by three sons Mike (wife Kathi) of Rose Hill, KS, Mark (wife Christy) of Rushville, and Mat (wife Diana) Feigl of Virginia; a granddaughter raised as her daughter Krista Feigl, eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson Tyler Feigl, a sister Joanne Wagner, a brother Dale Moodey, and a nephew Richie Wagner. In her younger years, Joyce attended schools in East St. Louis and worked in several department stores before marrying her husband. In 1972, they moved to Beardstown to open Feigl's Grocery Store, with a second location in Rushville. Joyce dedicated herself to taking care of her home and raising her family. Cooking came naturally to her; she often prepared meals for a small crowd. She was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown, and her faith played an important role in her life. In addition to her many talents, Joyce was an avid bowler and a champion, winning numerous trophies and even the state tournament with her regular Wednesday night league. Joyce loved spending time in her flower garden, which produced beautiful, vibrant blooms. She was also crafty, able to sew and quilt almost anything. She had a passion for reading, particularly Harlequin romance novels and she could be found in her room reading for hours. Her nurturing spirit will be missed by all those who loved her the most. A memorial service will be held at Noon, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 10:30 AM until the time of the services at the memorial home on Saturday. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice, Beardstown Food Pantry, or U.S. Autism and Asperger Association or the American Alzheimer's Association.
