Kevin Becker Obituary
He was born Aug. 5, 1974, in Jacksonville, the son of William R. and Darlene L. Thompson Becker. He married Amy Lynn Cook on Nov. 1, 1997, in Springfield, and she survives.
Kevin is also survived by his son, Connor of New Berlin; his father, William R. Becker of New Berlin, his brothers and sisters, Orlinda B. (husband, Scott) Speckhart of Auburn, Chris (wife, Kate) Becker of Petersburg, Brett (wife, Renee) Becker of Pleasant Plains, and Amy (husband, Gene) Shoemaker of New Berlin; and several nephews and a niece. His mother, Darlene Becker; and a nephew, Clay Becker, preceded him in death.
Kevin was a mechanic for Altorfer Cat in Clinton, operating a service truck from his home and covering Illinois and the surrounding states. He was a 1993 graduate of New Berlin High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springfield. Kevin cherished his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his son, Connor, riding four-wheelers, working on Wheel Horse tractors, or just tinkering in the garage.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Committal services will be private. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Connor Becker Education Fund. Amy, Connor and the Becker family: I am so sorry for your loss. The last time I saw Kevin he was standing in my office waiting for an AG job. It is so hard to see him here now. Kevin was genuine, honest and a hard worker. It was such a honor when he called me a friend. One of the greatest gift God has bestowed upon us is the ability to recall all of our cherished memories we have shared with our loved ones. For those who have made their journey home it is hard to recall the happy memories when we are grieving. There will come a time when you will remember when Kevin said something or did something that will make you smile. When you do that you will be keeping Kevin's memory in a positive way that will comfort you and Connor. May God comfort you and Connor during this most difficult time. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all.
