Jacksonville - Lois Edith Schone, 83 of Jacksonville passed away Tuesday October 14th, 2025, at her home. She was born August 3rd, 1942, in Jerseyville the daughter of Robert Jr. and Anna Bryant Lane. She married Robert Schone on August 18th, 1962, in Jerseyville and he preceded her in death on August 2nd, 2010.
She is survived by three children, Christine (Shawn) Handling of Jacksonville, Daniel (Janet) Schone of Arenzville, and Denise (Chuck) Cleghorn of Traverse City, MI; eleven grandchildren, Matt Schone, Adam Beard, Derrek Schone, Kaitlin Grantz, Teagan Cleghorn, Riley Cleghorn, Kyle Cummings, Brady Beard, Kasey Beard, Andrew Douglas, and Crofton Handling; three great grandchildren, Oliver Schone, Liam Schone, and AnnMarie Grantz; and one sister Judy Lane.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shay Hopkin, a daughter in law, Pam Schone, a brother, Gerald Lane, and one sister, Carolyn Lane.
Lois owned and operated Cropmate Fertilizer Company with her husband Robert. After retirement, she continued to work as a caregiver. She and Robert spent a lot of time traveling and camping at Camp CILCA. She also loved spending time with her family and especially trips with her grandchildren to Disney or to see her beloved St. Louis Cardinals play. Lois was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday October 25th, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville with burial to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to Elara Hospice.
