Dr. Paul J Ineich
Jacksonville - Dr. Paul J. Ineich, 88 of Jacksonville died Friday December 15, 2023 at his home.
He was born in Auburn, N.Y. on March 3, 1935 the son of Alfred & Emily Ineich. He married Sallie C. Costa, June 8, 1957 in Springfield, IL and she survives. He is also survived by a son Paul J. Ineich II (Jeanne) and a daughter Anne M. McCash (John), both of Metairie, LA. three grandsons, Dr. Bradley J. Powers (Mari), Paul J. Ineich, III and Daniel Ineich, one granddaughter Claire, and one great granddaughter, McKenzie, all of Metairie, LA. 19 nieces and nephews, a brother Robert Ineich proceeded him in death.
Dr. Ineich was a 1952 graduate of East Auburn High School. a 1956 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and a 1960 graduate of St. Louis University School of Dentistry in St. Louis where he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity. Captain Ineich served with the US Dental Corps at Ft. Riley, KS, be fore establishing a private practice in Jacksonville in 1962. He was associated with over 4 generations of patients, retiring in 2009. Dr Ineich was a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, where he served on the Board of Directors in the 1960's.
Dr. Ineich taught public school religion for many years at Our Saviors, and was a member of St. Marks' Parish in Winchester. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and served as Chairman of Troop 109, establishing the National Heritage Boy Scout Train in Jacksonville. He was a founding member of the Pony League Boys Baseball League, coaching for many years. He served as President of the JHS Booster Club, and refereed High School Boys Basketball.
He was the first dentist in Morgan County to participate in the Head Start Program, giving exams in the Murrayville Grade School gym to preschool children. He was a member of the Dr. Tom Dooley Society at the University of Notre Dame, the Elks Lodge #682, and the American Legion Post #279. He was an avid golfer, bowler and "Fighting Irish" fan!
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark's Church in Winchester Thursday December 21, 2023 at 10 am with Fr. Mark Schulte celebrant. A rosary service will be held at 4 pm Wednesday December 20, 2023 at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Visitation with the family will be from 4:30 until 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
