Richard Iven Cox
Franklin - Richard Iven Cox, 97, of Franklin passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born March 11, 1927, in rural Franklin, the son of Iven and Nellie Cox. He married Wilma Crawley on December 14, 1947, and she preceded him in death on November 30, 1986.
Richard is survived by his daughter Linda (Mike) White of Bloomington, Illinois; and longtime farming partner of over 40 years, David "Buddy" White. He is preceded in death by his two brothers, William Cox, Louis Cox; and his special friend and sister-in-law, Marie Robson.
Richard graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1944. After graduation, Richard was a dedicated farmer in the Pisgah area for over 60 years. After his retirement in 2004, he enjoyed reading farm magazines and the local papers. Richard was also a past trustee at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Williamson Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
