Springfield - Ricky Wray Williams, age 69, of Springfield passed away January 13, 2023 at Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville, IL
Rick was born on May 14, 1953, in Jacksonville, the son of the late James W. and Virginia (Bilger) Williams.
He married Melissa Ann Woods on June 18, 1983, at the Waverly Christian Church and she survives.
Those left to celebrate their cherished memories in addition to his loving wife, Melissa is a son, Gregory (Robyn) Williams and eight grandchildren: Garrett, Wyatt, Danica, Leland, London, Remington, Theo and Lydia. Also surviving are Rick's sisters, Marcia (John) Simpson and Shawn (Jeff) Lindquist, as well as aunts, uncles, and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ronald and a sister Sheryl.
Rick received Christ at age 16. At age 22, he followed God's call into the ministry serving as pastor, teacher, musical leader, childrens' evangelist and interim pastor until August 28, 2022, when he retired after 46 years of full-time ministry. This ministry included churches in Waverly, Geneseo, Carrollton, Virden, Taylorville, Niantic, Creve Coeur, Casey, Arthur and Petersburg.
Rick had often stated the best things that had ever happened to him were deciding to follow Jesus, getting married, becoming a dad and a grandpa. However, Rick said that his most special memories centered around his family. He treasured time spent with his son watching Jurassic Park, viewing Comet Hale-Bopp together. The "trip of a lifetime" with his wife to Alaska, to see whales and fly around Mount Denali created priceless precious memories. He was so honored to have the opportunity to perform the marriage ceremony of his son and daughter-in-law.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Petersburg First Christian Church, 210 South Eighth Street in Petersburg, IL. The family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to Petersburg First Christian Church and sent to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 E. Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.

Missy & Family---so very sorry for your loss. I always remember the good times that we all had, traveling and performing "The Witness" at many places. It was such a memorable time!!! It is a mainstay at my house, especially during Easter season.
