Robert Dobson Obituary
Murrayville - Robert "Bob" Dobson, 86, of Murrayville, passed away on October 13, 2025 in Jacksonville. He was surrounded by family.
He was born December 19, 1938 in Jacksonville, the son of Harry Dobson and Freda Wilner Dobson Oettle. He married Sharon Kaye Carr on November 2, 1962 and she survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Tabatha Dobson, Krish (Aaron) Adams, and Mikayla (Cory) Yannone. Grandchildren, Hannah and Ryan Scharlach, Brock, Blake, and Lakyn Wellenkamp, Kate and Jared Adams, Parker Dobson, Brayton and Gemma Yannone.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings, Florecia (Bob) Klopfer, Harry (Mary), John, and Bill (Bernice) Dobson.
Bob briefly joined the Marine Corps Reserves before joining the US Navy. He was an aviation machinist mate stationed in Pensacola, Fla., and served on the aircraft carrier USS Lexington.
He attended Jacksonville High School in the mid 1950's and worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for nearly 35 years. He enjoyed genealogy, reading, puzzles, crosswords, swimming, and tinkering around the house and yard. His humor and pranks will be remembered fondly.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services. A funeral luncheon will follow services at Bogarts. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association. The Williamson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
