Sandra S. Lyons

1942 - 2016

Sandra S. Lyons, 74, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday morning, March 14, 2016, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.

She was born March 14, 1942, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Clarence Virgil and Gladys Edith Taylor Westrope. She married William Lyons on April 5, 1958, at Centenary United Methodist in Jacksonville, and he survives.

She is also survived by three sons, Mark (wife, Brenda) Lyons of Palmyra, Kerry Lyons (domestic partner, Rhonda Friedel) of Roodhouse and Kevin (wife, Lisa) Lyons of Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Brandy Carey, Mark Lyons, Leslie Lyons Fry, Laura Elizabeth Lyons, Susan Spires, Jason Lyons, Nikki Lyons, Elizabeth Battefeld, Brent Lyons, Sabrina Lyons and Cameron Lyons; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Randy Lyons (surviving wife, Teresa, of Perry); four grandsons, Wesley Zane Lyons, Corey Lyons, Jeremy Lyons and Sean Lyons; one brother, Gary Westrope; and one sister, Linda York.

Mrs. Lyons graduated from Flamingo Beauty College and worked as a licensed cosmetologist for many years. She was a member of Westfair Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes and purses, water skiing, horseback riding, camping and crafts. She also loved her dogs.
