Sharon J Cockerill
Jacksonville - Sharon J Cockerill, age 82, of Winchester, Illinois, passed away Monday December 25th, 2023.
She was born October 26, 1941, in Morgan County, the daughter of George and Letha Easley. She married Robert (Bob) Cockerill on March 3, 1972, and he proceeded her in death on Feb 19, 2021.
Sharon retired as a Civilian Civil Servant, having served many years in the Military Housing Bureau, at the Great Lakes Naval Base located in Great Lakes, Illinois, North of Chicago.
She had a second career with the Hilton Hotels and Resorts Company. She worked at various locations across the county, and most recently retired in 2022 from the Hampton Inn, in Springfield, IL.
She and Bob were avid travelers. She enjoyed time spent on her screened in porch reminiscing, playing cards, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Sharon attended First Christian Church in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Sharon is survived by: three daughters, Carla (Donnie) Williams of Florence, SC, Trudy Leefers of Jacksonville, and Lesia (Joseph) Duggan of Ludowici, GA.; Grandchildren Melissa Williams, Brandy Williams, Dustin Leefers, Cory Leefers, Lindsay Leefers, Andrew Cockerill, Camille Murphy, Brittene Cockerill, Raelee McVay, Zachary McVay, Robert McVay, Danielle Sampson, Devin Roberts, Dathan Roberts, Dustin Roberts, Dakota Maxon, and Darrian Maxon, multiple great grandchildren, great -great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Melora McVay, Tina McVay, Roberta Roberts, Son in Law Lloyd Leefers, grandson, Derrick Roberts, two brothers, George Easley and Earl Easley, and five sisters, Nina Stasi, Leona (June) Blair, Mary Smith, Violet Surratt, and Elaine Hilton.
A celebration of life will be hosted by her family at a later time.
