Murrayville - Shirley Jean Pahlmann, age 78, formerly of Murrayville, passed away on September 4, 2025 at The Oaks Healthcare Center in Bartlett, IL. She was born December 29, 1946, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of Russel and Betty Fenstermaker Orris. She married JD Pahlmann on April 10, 1966, in Woodson, and he survives.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Shirley was known for her involvement in the Murrayville community. Shirley was a long-time member of the Murrayville United Methodist Church where she served as secretary for many years. She participated and served in multiple roles at the church, including bible studies, vacation bible school and United Methodist Women. She was a long-time member of Christian Women's club. She graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1965. Shirley's greatest joy was raising her daughters and spending time with all her extended family.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years, JD of West Chicago; their two daughters, Sandy Scott of West Chicago (late husband, Mike) and Kristy Wolter (husband, Mike) of Elgin; three grandchildren, Amanda Scott (husband Zeke), Megan Venberg (husband, Kyle), and Logan Wolter; her sisters Sharon Sorrill (late husband, Darrell), Joyce Bruington (husband, Jerry), and John Orris (wife, Linda). She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Harold Orris.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Murrayville United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 13. The family will meet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. All are welcome to join the family for dinner and fellowship immediately following the service at the Murrayville Community building. A private family Interment will take place at Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse, IL.
