Velma June Glendenning
Jacksonville - Velma June Glendenning departed this life at 91 years of age on June 28, 2025, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Velma June Glendenning was born February 4, 1934, to James Minor Jr. and Ruth M Minor in Sabetha, Kansas. Velma and Eugene Glendenning were married July 25,1951, in Sabetha.
To this union 3 children were born: Earnest Eugene, Kenneth Ray, and Evan Duane.
Velma enjoyed her life as a Pastor's wife, a mother to three boys, and a healthcare professional. Even though Velma had some health issues later in life, she never lost her positive outlook on life and her faith in God.
Velma is survived by her sons Earnest (Karryn) of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kenneth (Christine) of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter-in-law Laurie Glendenning of Ashland Illinois; two nieces; one nephew; and lifelong friends.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Eugene; her youngest son Evan; parents James and Ruth (Clemens) Minor; sisters Naomi Warren and Barb O'Hara; and brother Freddy Minor.
The family will have a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church (400 Morgan Street Jacksonville, Illinois 62650). The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is assisting the family. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
