Wilfred Clayton Obituary
Lynnville - Wilfred "Earl" Clayton, 83, of Lynnville passed away peacefully, embraced by the love of his family, at his residence on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025. He was born, Jan. 1, 1942, in Morgan County, the son of Wilfred and Frances "Fern" Killebrew Clayton. Earl graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Joy S. Baptist, Feb. 18, 1962.
Surviving is his wife, of almost 63 years, Joy of Lynnville; children, Greg Clayton, Sheri (Randy Doyle) Mason and Janet (Levi) Feenstra all of Winchester; grandchildren, Scott (Nichole) Mason, Corey (deceased wife, Tiffiny; companion Melissa Floyd) Mason, Beau (Rachel) Mason and Alex Feenstra; great grandchildren, Bailey (fiancé, Keaton Brown) Mason, William Mason, Henry Mason, Lincoln Mason and Rosalie Mason and siblings, George (Judy) Clayton, Wendell (Peggy) Clayton, Frances Stelbrink and Charles Clayton.
Earl was a lifelong farmer and caretaker of livestock. He volunteered for many years at the Scott County Fair. He hatched and raised: chickens, quail and pheasants. Earl was an avid outdoorsman, and a great mechanic. He built many farm buildings and earthen structures of his own design.
Earl was an excellent listener who was well known for his patience, good humor, kindness and generosity. Earl loved his family unconditionally and was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could ask for.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville is assisting the family.
