Francis R. Adams Jr.

West Townshend- Francis R. "Frank" Adams, Jr., age 81, of Sugar Maple Village Drive, a resident of West Townshend since 2012, died Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2025 at his home following an extended illness. Frank was born in Brattleboro on December 2, 1943, the son of Francis R. and Ruth (Minor) Adams. Raised and educated in town, he attended local public schools including Brattleboro Union High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during the Vietnam War and was discharged from active service in 1965. Frank later relocated to Hollywood, California where he worked as a security guard and later owned and operated his own bar from 1976 to 2001. He later returned home to Vermont where he operated his own trucking business for several years, F&J Trucking. Active fraternally, he was a member of the Cairo Shrine Temple in Rutland, and locally held membership in the Brattleboro Free Masons, American Legion, Brattleboro Post #5 and the Disabled American Veterans, John Blake Chapter. Formerly Frank attended First United Methodist Church in Brattleboro. More recently, he was a member of Calvery Church in West Townshend. Frank enjoyed fishing, surfing the internet, playing computer games and was a skilled maker of fine jewelry. On August 22, 2018, at the Calvery Church in West Townshend, he was married to Ingrid Kretschmer who survives. Besides his devoted wife, he leaves one daughter, Kelley Adams Bell of Florida, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Francis Raymond Adams, III. Graveside committal services with military honors will be conducted Wednesday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. in the Adams family lot in Morningside Cemetery with Pastor Ron Millett of Calvery Chapel officiating. Friends may call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 5th from 4 – 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
