William (Bill) J. Proulx Obituary

William "Bill" John Proulx, 61, of Wakefield, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Born in Arlington, Massachusetts, Bill spent the last 30 years in Wakefield, building a life anchored by his daughters, his dogs, and his favorite water-Pine River Pond. He worked as a sales engineer with AMD, known for sharp problem-solving, steady reliability, and an easy sense of humor.

An avid outdoorsman, Bill was happiest hunting, fishing, and boating, especially when he could share the day with family. Back at home, he was a self-taught gourmet whose cast-iron breakfasts and perfectly seared steaks turned simple dinners into events. If love was a language, Bill spoke it from the kitchen-often with his dogs Ellie and River underfoot, and fond memories of his late dog, Zoey.

Bill is the proud father of Hunter Proulx (24) of Clearwater, FL, and Kendall Proulx (21) of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by his mother Bonnie Proulx (86) and his brothers Don (59), Chris (57), and Bob (55), all of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his father, Don Proulx, Sr., in 1997.

Services to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a conservation or outdoor-heritage organization, or a local humane society, or honor Bill by spending a day on the water with someone you love.

I had the sincere pleasure to work with Bill at Xilinx/AMD. Even though he did not come into the office that much (due to customer support travels), every time he did, I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. When he did visit the office, we NEVER talked about work, we always had deep conversations about FAMILY. He adored Hunter and Kendall, and that is ALL he ever spoke about, his deep LOVE for the his two daughters. They are the luckiest young women to have had Bill as their father, and may all the great memories be a source of comfort at this most difficult time. May God's love give you strength during your time of sorrow. Sometimes things are easier to bear when you know friends and family care, and may time and love bring you peace. We are all better people for having known Bill Proulx...

I first meet Bill when he was at Cabletron and again when he was at a startup. His quiet energy, enthusiasm and curiosity was infectious and we grew to be friends.
