ANDREA J. MATTHEW
May 9, 1961 ~ January 30, 2011

Surrounded by her family, Andrea J. Matthew, 49, died Sun., Jan. 30, 2011, in Vancouver, WA, after fighting breast cancer for more than five years. Andrea was born in Seattle, WA on May 9, 1961. She grew up in the Puget Sound area and graduated from Lindbergh High School in Renton, WA.
In October 1990 Andrea married Mitchell Matthew. After four years they moved to Vancouver, where they made their home.
Andrea held various positions in different office settings. For seven and a half years she worked as the office receptionist at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
Andrea was a devoted mom, wife, daughter,
sister, sister-in-law and a beloved child of God.
She and her family have been active members of St. Andrew for over nine years.
Andrea's greatest joy was spending time with her family. Favorite memories included camping at the coast and trips to the Puget Sound area.
Andrea was a strong advocate and supporter of youth in many walks of life. Her love for children was seen through her being a Sunday School teacher, a volunteer leader on the church youth ministry team, and a teacher's aide in her children's elementary schools. She always had a hug and smile for each child she met.
Andrea is survived by her loving husband, Mitchell; her daughters, Samantha and Michele; her mother, Sylvia M. Wallace; and her brother, Chris L. Jensen (Susan).
She was preceded in death by her father, Chris Leroy Jensen in 1989.
A celebration of Andrea's life will be held on Sat., Feb. 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 5607 NE Gher Road, Orchards, 892-7160, www.salcvan.org.
Memorial gifts may be given to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, designated for the youth or Relay For Life funds.
