Donald Motheral Obituary

Donald Ray Motheral, 92, of Kress, died Dec. 29, 2017, in Plainview. He was born in November of 1925 in Tahoka, Texas to Ralph and Agnes Motheral. He graduated from Abernathy High School and served in the Navy during WW2. He married Billie Fern Thompson on April 30, 1950, and farmed in the Kress area for over 40 years. Don was a member of the Kress United Methodist Church, and also served as a member of the Kress ISD Board of Trustees. He took pride in his family and in farming, and he loved to tell stories about his High School and Navy adventures. His sense of humor will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife Billie Motheral, daughter Pam Harrell (Pete) of Weatherford, son Mike Motheral (Marijohn) of Lubbock, brother R.K. Motheral (P.J) of Palestine. Grandchildren are Kyle Motheral (Lesley), Brooke Bicknell (Scott), Allison McAfee (Justin), Roy Don Motheral (Jamee), and eight great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill Motheral and Lawrence Motheral, and sisters Imogene Shires, Wilma Pope, and Wynelle Pope. A special thanks to the staff in the Memory Care Unit at The Prairie House in Plainview, and to Dr. T. Coe Branch. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Kress, Texas, at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, and will be conducted by Ernie McGaughey. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org, or to Kress United Methodist Church, in lieu of flowers.
