Edward Barker Obituary

Dr. Edward Barker Dr. Edward Barker, 78, of Plainview, passed away on Aug. 26, 2012, in Lubbock. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30. A memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Kornerstone Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Edward was born Aug. 3, 1934, to Joseph and Rose Barker in Detroit, Mich. He graduated in 1968 from Chicago College of Osteopathy. He married Judy Morris on July 10, 1981. He enjoyed horse racing, politics, traveling, joking and outdoor activities. His passion was helping others through his career as a doctor and also in everyday life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Barker; and eight siblings, Agnes, Catherine, Phillip, Anne, Lorraine, Paul, Theodore and Rita Barker. He is survived by his wife, Judy Barker of Plainview; nine children, Christopher Barker of Ft. Lupton, Colo., Daniel and Missy Barker of Lake Stevens, Wash., Veronica Cuschieri of Sammamish, Wash., Margaret Barker of Lake Stevens, Wash., Ed and Kelly Barker of Oakland Township, Mich., Robbie Barker of Piedmont, Mo., Joey and Ashley Barker of Lubbock, Tony Barker of Lubbock, and Michael Barker of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren, Brian and wife Megan Barker, Abby, Lydia and Shelby Barker, Hunter Barker, John and Sophia Cuschieri, Alexus, Jayden and Cayson Barker, and Tanner Layton; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Wyatt Barker; and five siblings, Emily and Steve Guarini, Peter Barker, Joseph and Penny Barker, George Barker, Kenny Barker and several nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Catholic Relief Services, P.O.
