Iris A. Melcher

Iris A. Melcher Vigil service for Iris Melcher, 93, of Plainview and formerly of Slaton will be at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 29, 2013, in Englunds Chapel. Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Iris was born in Hedley, Texas, on March 26, 1920. She passed from this life Sept. 26, 2013. Iris moved to Slaton as a young child and graduated from Slaton High School n 1937. Iris married Louie Melcher on Aug. 30, 1939, in Slaton. Louie preceded her in death in 1995. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Altar Society. She was co-owner of the Flower Patch until she retired. Her survivors include her sons, Kenneth of Celina, Joe of New Orleans, La., Larry of Garland and Mike of Plainview, along with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
