Joe Rogers Obituary

Joe William Rogers, age 88, of Hale Center, Texas passed away on April 27, 2021 in Plainview. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Terry Wright, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Joe was born September 26, 1932 in Holdenville, OK to Omer J. and Judy Koie Rogers. He married Tresa Nell Cornett on June 10, 1956 in Happy Union, TX. He delivered the Plainview paper for 42 years and was a crossing guard for over 20 years at Akin Elementary in Hale Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy Joe Rogers; two brothers, Harry Rogers and Jimmy Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Tresa Nell Rogers, a daughter, Tanya Rogers of Hale Center; a daughter-in-law, Rachel Burge and husband Brad of Hale Center; his six brothers, Donnie Rogers, Buddy Rogers, Clifford Rogers, Pete Rogers, Bill Rogers, Jack Rogers; his two sisters, Peggy Roper, Ruth Ann Matthews; seven grandchildren, Chad Hinkle of Hale Center, Tiffany Hart and husband Steven of Muleshoe, Jonathan Rogers of Lubbock, Shelby Rogers and Makayla Payne of Killeen, Zachary Burge and Zane Burge of Hale Center; eight great grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Payton, Brooklyn, Jacelyn, Sharnise, Rowdy, Avery and Tessa.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Alzheimer's Association.
