Jose Guzman Obituary

Jose Guzman Jr. Jose Guzman Jr., 32, of Plainview, passed away Dec. 24, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Jose will be laid to rest following the service in Plainview Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Open visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 27, in Lemons Memorial Chapel, and a Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Jose Emiliano Guzman Jr. was born Aug. 2, 1980, in Plainview to Jose Emiliano Guzman Sr. and Sylvia (Martinez) Guzman. He was raised in the area and graduated from Plainview High School. Jose and Stacey Pena were married May 14, 2011, in Lubbock. Jose worked as a prison guard at the Montford Unit. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and was a sweet, loving, hard working man. He was a great son and a good father. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him. Jose liked to cook for friends and family, whether it was inside or on the grill. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Houston Texans, the San Antonio Spurs and the Texas Longhorns. He attended the Catholic Church. Jose is survived by his wife, Stacey Pena Guzman; his parents Jose Guzman Sr. and Sylvia Guzman, all of Plainview; his paternal grandparents, Socorro and Angel Guzman of Amarillo; his maternal grandmother, Manuela Martinez of Plainview; his children Nicolas Jose Guzman, Zachary Lee Guzman and Stephanie Marie Guzman, of Kyle, Texas; his stepchildren Aryana Alexis Godino and Zayvin Jesse Godino of Lubbock, Texas; brothers Tony Guzman, Angel Justin Guzman and his wife Stephanie Lopez; sister Sonya Guzman and her husband Ricardo Herrera, now deceased, all of Plainview; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Antonio Martinez. Online condolences may be made at www.lemonsfunerals.com.
