Matilde Gutierrez AMARILLO - Matilde Gutierrez, 78, of Amarillo died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Jeff Messer officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Gutierrez was born March 4, 1933, in Willard, N.M., to Felipe Contreras and Rosaura Lueras. She lived in Plainview most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Gutierrez, and a son, Benito Marroquin. Survivors include her daughters, Ruth Garcia of Rockwall, Texas, Rita Saldivar of Lubbock, Texas, Rafaela "Lita" Lopez of Plainview, Texas, Lydia Davila of Whitney, Texas, and Rosalinda Villalon of Amarillo, Texas; sons, Rudy Marroquin of Austin, Texas, and Robert Marroquin and Eddie "Cookie" Marroquin, both of Plainview, Texas; sisters, Mary Garcia of Willard, N.M., Lori Gonzales of Estancia, N.M., Ramona Floyd of Edgewood, N.M., Elena Mason of Q. Cove, B.C., Canada, and Isabel Quillin of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, Benito Contreras of San Leandro, Calif., Eddie Ortiz of Albuquerque, N.M., Rito Ortiz of Willard, N.M., Bernie Lueras of Willard, N.M., and Gilbert Miradal of Gallup, N.M.; 22 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
