W. Morris Obituary

W. Craig Morris W. Craig Morris was born in Okmulgee, Okla., on April 2, 1933, and passed away May 11, 2008. He attended Lubbock schools and graduated from Lamesa High School in 1951. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1957 with an accounting degree, following a two-year stint in the Army. He was an avid Red Raider fan and a member of the Wranglers and ATO fraternity. He married Raye Bennett in Abilene on Oct. 24, 1953. They moved to Plainview in 1965 to work for Custom Farm Services. In 1982, he started his own CPA firm. He was involved in Boy Scout Troop 252 for some 15 years, receiving the Haynes District Boy Scout Hall of Fame Award. He was a member of the Plainview Lions Club for 42 years and its treasurer for 40 years. He was awarded life memberships in Great Plains Eye Bank, Texas Lions Camp and Texas Boys Ranch. He also was awarded the Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and loved all his golf buddies. Craig is survived by his wife of 54 years, Raye; two sons, Walter of Abilene and Randy and Anne Morris of Canyon Lake; two sisters, Grace Ann Bryan of Lubbock and Lou Scheideman of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Becca and Aaron Morris of Canyon Lake; one nephew, Morris and Susie Bryan of Lubbock; and one niece, Billie Grace and Lee Dickerson of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his son, Blake Morris. Contributions may be made to the following Lions Club charities: Texas Lion Camp, Great Plains Eye Bank and Texas Boys Ranch at P.O. Box 682, Plainview, TX 79073-682. Funeral services for W. Craig Morris, 75, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at City of Lubbock Cemetery by Bartley Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at [email protected]
