Winfred Blackerby

Winfred Blackerby KRESS - Graveside services for Winfred Blackerby, 75, will be at 3 p.m. today in Kress Cemetery with the Rev. Kerry Drake, pastor of Claytonville Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Visitation will be after the service at Claytonville Baptist Church. Mr. Blackerby died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008. He was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Swisher County. He went to school in the Whitfield community and later at Kress. He grew up working on the family farm. He married Abbie Gail Blaine on Dec. 30, 1950, in Amarillo. He farmed until 1973 when he started selling tractors for Scott Tractor Company. He was a maintainer operator for Swisher County at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Teresa Anderson of Haskell; three sons, Erwin Blackerby of Seymour, Vinson Blackerby of Canyon and Jody Blackerby of Kress; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
