Herschel Denham Obituary
Herschel was born in Saint Anne, Ill. on Dec. 8, 1939, the son of Myrtle (Denham) Noble. Herschel married his first wife and mother of his children, Darlene Coley, on Dec. 14, 1957, in Rensselaer, and she passed away on March 12, 2005. He married his second wife, Marie (Powell) Wheeldon, on June 14, 2008, in Wolcott, and she passed away on Sept. 22, 2022.
Herschel attended the Mt. Ayr and Monon public school systems. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Farm Builders Incorporated for 36 years and previously at Miller's Garage, Babcock's, and in farming.
Herschel was a member of the Wolcott Christian Church. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed traveling.
Herschel is survived by his children, Herschel Jr. (Pamela) Denham, Wolcott, Rickey Denham, Vicki (Tony) Ross, Monticello; step-children, Mike (Carla) Wheeldon, Rensselaer, Brian Wheeldon, Wolcott; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight step-great- grandchildren; sibling, Esther Hayes, Rensselaer; sister-in-law, Juanita Denham, Selmer, Tenn.
Herschel was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle; wife and mother of his children, Darlene Denham; second wife, Marie Denham; brother, Dennis Denham; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Denham.
Friends may call upon the family at Jackson Funeral Chapel on Monday, Jan. 30 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. CT. A funeral service will be held immediately following at the chapel at 1 p.m. CT with Pastor Tom Bennett officiating.
Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, Rensselaer.
