Hilda Yoder Obituary
She was born on May 26, 1927, the daughter of Thomas and Claire (Mills) Carroll. Her first marriage was to Bennie Kerkes and he passed away in 1963. Then, on July 31, 1994, she married Albert Yoder, who preceded her in death on June 30, 2010.
Hilda attended and graduated from the Mt. Ayr High School, the Class of 1945. She received her
Bachelor's Degree in Education from St. Joseph's College. Hilda had a variety of occupations in her
lifetime, including a fourth grade teacher at the DeMotte Elementary School and Kniman Elementary
School. She also performed numerous clerical duties while working at the Tampa International Airport and more locally, she worked and assisted in the local CDC Resources office and the former Ribordy's Drug Store.
Hilda also volunteered in numerous organizations; Helping Hands, the Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Rensselaer and she served as a past Sunday school teacher at the Burr Oak Mennonite Church. More recently, however, she attended the Rensselaer Church of the Nazarene.
Her surviving children include, Bennie Kerkes Jr., Remington, Margaret (Robert) Saiter, Rensselaer, Joseph (Annette) Kerkes, Lutz, Fla., Michael (Linda) Kerkes, Poinciana, Fla., and Janet
(Raymie) Richards, Wolcott. Also surviving is her sister, Ruthanna "Miriam" Steinkamp, Rensselaer; 13 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; one son, Thomas Kerkes; four brothers and one sister.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
