Ruben Ramirez, a beloved father, brother, musician, and dedicated worker, passed away in Lubbock on March 15, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on May 27, 1952, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to the late Canuto and Catalina Ramirez. Ruben’s journey through life was marked by a steadfast spirit and a heart full of music and family.
Ruben worked a number of jobs over the years, most recently as a General Laborer at The Peanut House Warehouse. His work ethic was matched only by his passion for music. He was a talented bass player who brought joy to many through his performances. Ruben played in several bands, including "Juan y Los Favoritos", and shared the stage and his love of music with his late brother, Raymond R. Ramirez.
Ruben Ramirez’s story is one of love, music, and enduring family ties. His legacy resonates not only in the melodies he played but in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he has left this world, the music of his life will play on forever in the memories of all who loved him.
Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Canuto and Catalina Ramirez, and his brother Raymond R. Ramirez.
He is lovingly remembered by his two daughters Christiana Aguilar and Lori Ann Ramirez (Ryan); a brother Joe Ramirez; two sisters Mary Reyes and Isabel Gonzalez. He was also a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren, along with being surrounded by a warm circle of nieces and nephews all of Lubbock.
