Thurston King Obituary

On August 19, 2025, the world lost a remarkable man. Thurston "T.H." Holman King, born in Seymour, Texas, on September 7, 1935, lived a life that defined grit, humility, and unwavering determination. Raised in humble beginnings, Thurston knew the weight of hard work early on. Joining the U.S. Navy, a decision he often called the greatest of his life, he discovered both discipline and purpose. After his service, he seized the opportunity of the GI Bill, attending both William & Mary University and Sheppard University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. With that education and his unbreakable work ethic, Thurston began as a biochemist at GAF and climbed, step by determined step, to become Vice President of GAF and ultimately President of ISP. A true self-made man, he never forgot where he came from. He carried his roots with him into every boardroom and every friendship, giving to others before himself, leading with quiet strength and a generous spirit. For 60 years, he shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Felicia Jean King, his partner in every adventure. Together they built a family and a legacy of love and resilience. He was a father to three sons, a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, and a loving great-grandfather to one. To his family, he was not just a provider, but a source of wisdom, strength, laughter, and encouragement. Tall in stature and character, Thurston was a man of grit and grace. He was tough yet nurturing, incredibly intelligent yet humble, wise yet full of fun. He loved music, adventure, and above all, time spent with family. He lived life fully and faithfully, with loyalty to his country and compassion for those around him. To know him was to be inspired. To love him was to be blessed. Today, we remember a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose legacy will echo through the lives he touched. The measure of his success was not in titles or awards, but in the love he gave, the strength he shared, and the lives he lifted. The world feels smaller without him, but the mark he left is immeasurable. To send flowers to the family, please visit our floral store.

Sorry to learn of T.H.´s passing. I worked with and for him for years. He could be a demanding boss but also had a heart for his long time associates. I have many T.H. stories, but they are best left unsaid. God bless him, Jeanie, and his Family.
