Allen Garris Obituary

LAKE VIEW | Allen Randolph Garris, 59, of Lake View, S.C., passed away early Wednesday morning, April 30, 2008, after a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.

Randy was born November 27, 1948, the son of the late Mr. Carl and Mrs. Hortense Page Garris. Mr. Garris graduated from the University of South Carolina and earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He practiced law and farmed in Dillon County.

Mr. Garris is survived by his children, Kristin G. Garris of Winston-Salem, N.C., Britta Allen Garris of Dillon, R. Alexander Garris of Myrtle Beach, Randi Marie Phillips of Lake View, Elizabeth R. Garris of Myrtle Beach, Allen R. Garris Jr. of Myrtle Beach, Valerie Bethea of Jacksonville, Florida, and Rebecca Garris and Daniel Garris of Myrtle Beach; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Carl J. Garris Jr. of Chapin, Alice Faye Garris Kulmayer (Joe) of Williamsburg, Va., Jack R. Garris (Myra) of Dillon, Hilda Garris Stephens (Robert) of Dillon, and Steve Garris (Janice) of Lake View.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 in First Baptist Church of Lake View. Burial will follow in Bear Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake View, S.C., directed by Cook Funeral Home. The family received friends at Cook Funeral Home of Lake View, from 7 until 9 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2008.
